WASHINGTON, D.C., April 21, 2025—Today, the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (the Big “I") issued the following statement after Georgia Senate Bill 68 and Senate Bill 69 were signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp. Together, these two bills comprised the comprehensive legal system reform package crafted and championed by Governor Kemp and leaders in the General Assembly.
Charles Symington, Big “I" president and CEO, said:
“The enactment of meaningful and commonsense legal reform is a victory for Georgia consumers, families and employers and one that will create a fairer and more reasonable justice system in the state. The comprehensive legislative package signed into law today will help curtail frivolous and unfair lawsuits, lower unwarranted litigation expenses, enhance judicial transparency and reduce related costs needlessly imposed on Georgia workers and businesses. SB 68 and 69 are thoughtful and much-needed responses to the lawsuit abuse and manipulation of the legal system that have become too common in many parts of the country."
“The Big 'I' and our members in Georgia and across the country thank Governor Kemp and legislative leaders in the General Assembly for their leadership, vision and hard work on this critically important legislation. The Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia was an early and prominent supporter of this initiative, and we commend our state association for the instrumental role it played in building a broad-based coalition of business and community support for these reforms."
